I have decided to write about this image, of John Lennon and Yoko taken by Annie Leibovitz. The reason I selected this picture is because it has a some powerful meanings behind it; Positive and negative. It’s clear that the power of love is significant in this image, where John is beside his partner, kissing her on the cheek with his hand on her head. However, this was one of the last recorded images taken of Lennon before he was assassinated, so it’s become widely significant up until the present day, as it has two opposite meanings.
I like the composition of the image, as it’s taken from a bird’s eye view pointing directly down on the two figures. Yoko is completely laid out on the floor, whereas John is cradled up against her , with his whole body in the frame. There is a lack of colour in the image, the background matches the same tone as john’s skin, however, what really catches your eye is Yoko’s bold, dark top and trousers, as they are completely black, contrasting with a plain background.

This image of John and Yoko is so significant it has been replicated by others, creating parodies photoshopping other subjects into the picture, to replace John.
As well as this image of John and Yoko, there is another, where John is fully clothed, similarly composed and the background remains the same.
